Established in 1917 by Vaidyaratnam P.S. Varier, the founder of Arya Vaidya Sala, the institution began as Arya Vaidya Patasala (School of Ayurvedic Medicine) in Kozhikode. It was later shifted to Kottakkal and has transformed into Vaidyaratnam P.S. Varier Ayurveda College, affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS).
