Before submitting the NEET 2026 application form, candidates must prepare all mandatory documents in advance. These documents are required during online registration, identity verification and later stages of counselling and admission.
Documents Required for NEET 2026 Application
The following documents are commonly required while filling the NEET UG 2026 application form:
– Recent passport size photograph
– Postcard size photograph
– Scanned signature of the candidate
– Left and right hand thumb impressions and finger impressions
– Class 10 or equivalent marksheet
– Class 10 or equivalent passing certificate
– Valid identity proof (if Aadhaar or DigiLocker is not used)
– Category certificate, if applicable
– PwBD certificate, if applicable
– Address proof (permanent and current)
– CGPA to percentage conversion certificate (if applicable)
– Citizenship or embassy certificate for NRI, OCI or foreign candidates
NEET 2026 Document Size and Format Guidelines
For successful submission of the NEET 2026 application form, documents must strictly follow the file size and format prescribed by NTA. Files not meeting these requirements may fail to upload.

Category Certificate Guidelines for NEET 2026
Candidates belonging to reserved categories must upload a valid certificate to claim category benefits during NEET 2026 admission.
For SC and ST candidates, older certificates remain acceptable and continue to provide
reservation benefits.
For OBC and EWS candidates, a fresh certificate is required every year and must be issued
after March 2026 for NEET 2026 counselling.
Central category certificates are considered only for All India Quota admissions and are
not applicable for state quota seats.
Photograph Upload Instructions for NEET 2026
NEET 2026 requires candidates to upload both passport size and postcard size photographs. These photographs must meet specific visual and technical standards.
– Photo should be recent and not older than three months
– Face and ears should be clearly visible
– Background must be plain white
– Candidate name and date of photo capture should be printed below
– JPG or JPEG format only with size between 10 KB and 200 KB
– Caps and sunglasses are not allowed unless medically required
– Computer generated or edited photos are rejected
Signature Upload Instructions
Candidates must upload a scanned image of their handwritten signature while filling the NEET 2026 application form.
– Signature must be done on white paper
– Black ink should be used
– Do not write the signature in capital letters
– JPG format only
– File size must be between 4 KB and 30 KB
– Signature should be clear and readable without blur or editing
Nationality and Citizenship Proof for NEET 2026
Candidates applying as NRI, OCI or foreign nationals must upload valid proof of nationality during NEET 2026 registration.
Accepted documents include passport copies, citizenship certificates issued by competent authorities, or OCI documents issued by Indian or foreign government agencies. All documents must clearly mention nationality details, date of issue and issuing authority.
Gap Certificate
A gap certificate is required to explain any academic break between completion of Class 12 and the NEET attempt. Some states and medical colleges may ask for this document during counselling or admission verification.

Medical Fitness Certificate
A medical fitness certificate confirms that the candidate is medically fit to pursue a medical course and is required at the time of reporting to the allotted college after NEET 2026 counselling.
